Two-Day Online Workshop:

Join us for an exciting two-day weekend online workshop, where you'll come together with like-minded individuals to share in a unique and enriching learning experience. This workshop is designed to not only deepen your understanding but also to foster a sense of community and collaboration among participants.

Day One: Dive into the theoretical foundations of counselling, gaining valuable insights into the Micro Skills of counselling through a holistic lens. This day is all about expanding your knowledge base and equipping you with the essential theories that will guide your practice.

Day Two: Immerse yourself in practical application within breakout rooms. This interactive day allows you to actively engage with your peers, putting your newfound knowledge into practice. Through collaborative exercises and role-playing scenarios, you'll have the opportunity to refine your skills in a supportive and dynamic environment.

To ensure presence and focus during your online learning, it is essential to operate from a private space. This setting will help maintain the confidentiality required as you conduct counselling sessions with fellow students. Confidentiality is of utmost importance, and we encourage you to seek counselling beforehand if you feel vulnerable or in need of support for your well-being.

While there will be support available on the day, it is important to remember that this experience is also about adult learning and taking responsibility for your emotional needs. We aim to provide a supportive environment, but your proactive engagement in managing your well-being is crucial.

Basic knowledge of a person centered approach to counselling and the work of Carl Rogers

Knowledge of various modalities of counselling - This will replace Knowledge of solution focused therapy (Steve De Shazer & Insoo Kim Berg) and the appropriate use of this technique in counselling
The basics of Cognitive Behavioral therapy (Dr Aaron Beck)and it's use in counselling
Appropriate referral of clients and networking with other organisations in the area
The useful integration of different counselling modalities
Experiential development of inner and outer awareness in difficult situations
Basic understanding of Process Oriented Psychology (aka 'Process Work' - Arnold Mindell) and the 3 x levels of awareness
The importance of confidentiality and power dynamics within a therapeutic relationship
A developing understanding of internal and external conflict. Recognising other's in conflict and the basics of working with another's conflict.
Basic understanding of the different creative therapies available in counselling.
Knowledge of Non Violent communication and how to introduce it in a counselling session.
A deeper awareness around developing communication and self reflective skills.
A basic understanding of how to work with diverse individuals.
Practical application of Academic Writing.

Course Content

The Holistic Counselling Skills Certificate provides an excellent combination of study approaches to meet the needs of the modern world.

You will complete the vast majority of your study online via our Moodle E-Learning Platform. This platform has all the tools to keep you in contact with your peers, tutors, and the Metavision community.

We believe personal interaction is an important part of your study. From the beginning, we work to connect you with your peers in the course to allow for collaboration and connection in respect to the content. This is an important part of adult learning and greatly improves familiarity with the subject.

The course content is delivered on a weekly basis, building your skills each week. A typical week will involve the following resources:

1 or 2 exercises to be worked on during the week

Zoom meetings

Additionally, there will be a one-hour online class held once a week on a weekday, where you will be required to participate with your camera on. The specific day will be confirmed closer to the start of the course.

The exercises are varied with an emphasis on experiential learning. They are designed to enhance your engagement with the content, develop self-reflective practices, and learn collaboratively. You will find the assessments highly relevant and easily applied to your everyday life. Once you have completed your work, you are encouraged to share in the online forum where you will receive weekly feedback.

Deanne Reyes

After graduating from the Metavision course in 2011, Deanne continued on as a teaching assistant, growing into the role of Student Liaison for all Metavision courses. She is also an integral part of the team within the Metavision hub as a student liaison and runs her own private practice.

With a background in management within the biomedical equipment industry, Deanne's decision to change careers was based on experiences throughout her life that were not always within her control. This is a common theme with many students who seek to study with Metavision due to the transformative nature of the course. Her passion for communication and, in particular, the Metavision Model has helped her transition from her previous career into her current role, where she embodies this model while working with people from all walks of life.

Deanne will oversee the Holistic Counselling Skills Certificate course, ensuring a cohesive and enriching learning experience. You will also have the opportunity to learn from different teachers, including Metavision's most distinguished and expert faculty members, providing a diverse range of insights and expertise.
