Position Overview:

As the Academic Chairperson at Metavision Institute, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of our institution by providing academic leadership and oversight. You will lead the Academic Board, ensuring that our courses meet and exceed national and professional tertiary education standards, and that our innovative teaching approach continues to inspire our students and faculty alike.

Key Responsibilities:

- Facilitate Academic Oversight: Provide rigorous academic oversight and quality assurance for Metavision Institute's courses in accordance with national and professional tertiary education standards. This includes ensuring that the curriculum aligns with our groundbreaking Metavision Model.

- Meeting Management: Review and manage the agenda and minutes for Academic Board meetings, fostering an environment of productive discussion and collaboration.

- Chair Board Meetings: Take the lead in chairing Academic Board meetings (approximately three per year), encouraging a culture of rigor and collegiality in the Board's deliberations.

- Committee Reports: Ensure that minutes and reports from the subcommittees of the Academic Board are regularly tabled, allowing for informed decision-making.

- Course Accreditation: Oversee the review and endorsement of course accreditation applications by the Academic Board, ensuring that our programs maintain the highest standards of quality.

- Policy Oversight: Monitor Metavision's policy development to meet regulatory requirements, staying ahead of industry standards and best practices.

Qualifications:

- A Ph.D. or equivalent terminal degree in a relevant field.

- Proven experience in academic leadership or management.

- A deep understanding of tertiary education standards and quality assurance.

- Exceptional organizational and interpersonal skills.

- An innovative mindset and a passion for driving educational excellence.

About Metavision Institute

Metavision Institute offers accredited postgraduate programs in Counselling and Psychotherapy (Holistic practice) at both the graduate diploma and master’s levels. Other courses and opportunities are coming.

Our holistic approach develops an understanding of the living Human Being in a process of becoming. Drawing on the New Sciences, the Process Science of Arnold Mindell and others, and wisdom traditions from the East and West, the courses offer a unique, dynamic, and effective approach to working with Mental health issues to assist in meeting some of the diverse needs of our times. The holistic and experiential methods of education used at the Institute ensures the students learn through doing, self-reflection and development, as well as academic skill.

The Metavision Institute was Founded in 2004, has an ongoing PACFA accreditation since 2011, and more recently in 2021, TEQSA accreditation, becoming a private Higher Education Institute. Position Overview:

Metavision Institute is seeking a dynamic and experienced Academic Director, Higher Education to lead the implementation of our higher education courses. Reporting directly to the Founder, Christina Nielsen, and to the Governance Board, the successful candidate will play a key role in curriculum development, accreditation processes, and fostering a culture of scholarship, research and collaboration within the institute.

This is a part-time position.

Responsibilities:

  1. Academic Leadership:
    - Provide leadership in alignment with TEQSA's Threshold Standard Framework, the AQF, and professional accreditation standards.
    - Oversee the continuous improvement of academic programs to ensure relevance and compliance with regulatory standards.
    - Foster an environment of academic excellence, innovation, and inclusivity.
  2. Curriculum Development:
    - Collaborate with the Founder, Christina Nielsen, to contribute to the development and enhancement of higher education courses.
    - Ensure curriculum design meets the highest educational standards and aligns with industry needs.
  3. Accreditation and Reporting:
    - Oversee the timely and accurate reporting to TEQSA in collaboration with the IT manager, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.
  4. Team Leadership:
    - Supervise and provide guidance to Course Coordinators and teachers, fostering professional development and a high standard of academic delivery.
    - Collaborate with the Executive Committee, and Chair the Course Advisory Committee (CAC) meetings.
  5. Strategic Engagement:
    - Attend and report to the Board meetings, providing updates on academic matters and contributing to strategic discussions.
    - Implement the Academic Budget in alignment with the financial guidelines provided by the Executive Committee.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • A doctoral degree in a relevant field.
  • Extensive experience in academic leadership within a higher education setting.
  • Knowledge of TEQSA's Threshold Standards Framework and AQF.
  • Proven success in curriculum development and accreditation processes.
  • Excellent communication, leadership and interpersonal skills.
  • Committed to supporting a culture of respect, inclusion, collaboration, and cooperation within the teams at Metavision.
  • Demonstrated commitment to scholarship and research with tangible outcomes.
