Allan RudnerPlacement Coordinator
Allan has developed the mastery of what the philosopher Aristotle called "practical wisdom" on so many levels. One of the ways Aristotle defines "practical wisdom" is the ability to do the right thing in the right way to the right degree with the right person. It is not something that can simply be learnt theoretically but requires both experience and a highly attuned reflective mindset. Allan exemplifies this and demonstrates these competencies when he creates a trusting space to allow others to grow, meeting their needs and existential concerns. Furthermore, he has the lived experience of the skills he now embodies.
Allan holds a BSc and a Masters degree in Cultural Psychology. He has worked with men and boys, and rites-of-passage on three continents for three decades. Over the last ten years he has worked in the field of counselling in four academic institutions in Australia, and been a guest lecturer and presenter at numerous conferences and events. He has been the subject of a number of professional and radio interviews. He continues to support the development of older men into Elderhood.
