Academic Quality Standards

Metavision Institute upholds academic quality by ensuring both inputs and outcomes are rigorously benchmarked, monitored, and aligned with national standards.

Inputs include:

Clear and equitable admission pathways benchmarked for likely student success.
Academic teaching staff with qualifications at least one AQF level above the course they teach, or who demonstrate professional equivalence.
Documented and benchmarked processes for determining professional equivalence.
Support for staff pursuing doctoral qualifications.
A strong emphasis on research and scholarly activity aligned with the Strategic Plan.
Timely and respectful student services covering admission, progression, assessment, and academic support.
Systems to uphold academic integrity and monitor misconduct.

Outcomes include:

Student completion rates comparable to similar programs nationally.
Annual reporting on staff qualifications and professional equivalency.
Ongoing monitoring of staff research engagement and scholarly output.
External benchmarking of student outcomes and support services.
Assessment of graduate attributes and course learning outcomes.

Quality Assurance Cycle

Metavision Institute operates within a formal quality assurance cycle, including both internal and external reviews.

Internal Review

End-of-semester student evaluations inform ongoing improvements in teaching, curriculum, and assessment.
The Teaching and Learning Committee reviews feedback, develops action plans, and reports to the Academic Board.
Annual course reports analyse progress against the Teaching and Learning Plan and inform strategic decisions.
Improvement actions are submitted to the Governance Board for approval.

External Review

Courses undergo external benchmarking annually and every three years in accordance with the Benchmarking Policy.
Independent academic reviewers provide discipline-specific feedback during course development and review.
Governance Board and its committees are externally reviewed every three years.
Academic teaching staff undergo annual performance reviews in line with the Academic Staff Performance Review and Management Policy.

Course Development and Evaluation

Metavision Institute takes a proactive and consultative approach to course development, review, and improvement.

The Course and Curriculum Advisory Committee oversees course and unit design, ensuring coherence, relevance, and alignment with learning outcomes.
Comprehensive external reviews occur on a three-year cycle.
Annual and cyclical course reports are submitted to the Academic Board and inform continuous quality enhancements.

Course Changes

Course changes are classified into three categories:

Major Course Changes Significant changes affecting a course’s structure, AQF level, or objectives (e.g., delivery mode, new specialisations). These require Academic Board endorsement and Governance Board approval. Some may constitute a material change requiring TEQSA notification.
Minor Course Changes Refinements such as unit content updates or prerequisite adjustments. These are approved by the Academic Board and do not require TEQSA notification.
Administrative Changes Non-substantive updates (e.g., correcting typos, contact details) noted by the Teaching and Learning Committee.

Governance and Oversight

Governance Board: Approves new course accreditations and major changes, reviews external governance reports.
Academic Board: Endorses external experts, reviews course reports, monitors staff qualifications, approves minor course changes.
Course and Curriculum Advisory Committee: Ensures course design and delivery achieve learning outcomes and meet student needs.
Teaching and Learning Committee: Monitors quality of learning and teaching, receives student evaluations and course reports.
Dean: Oversees annual course reporting and submits material change notifications to TEQSA.
