Begin With Confidence: A Supported Pathway Into Holistic Counselling & Psychotherapy

Bridging Course :: Counselling Foundations

Choosing to study counselling is not a small decision. For many people, it’s a calling that has been quietly present for years — a desire to do meaningful work, support others, and live in alignment with their values. But for those coming from different professional or academic backgrounds, it can be difficult to know how to begin.

At Metavision Institute, we understand that stepping into a new field — especially one as meaningful as counselling and psychotherapy — requires both clarity and support. That’s why we created our Bridging Course: a structured, academically grounded pathway for students who are ready to pursue postgraduate counselling study but need the counselling-specific foundations to meet entry requirements.

A Supported Entry Pathway for Committed, Values-Led Students

If you feel called to study counselling and psychotherapy — and you hold an undergraduate degree in another discipline — the Bridging Course provides the essential counselling foundations required to progress into our accredited programs.

This pathway is designed for students who:

Over 7 weeks, you will:

  • Learn the core concepts and frameworks that underpin holistic counselling
  • Experience Metavision’s reflective, embodied, and evidence-informed learning approach
  • Develop readiness for postgraduate academic expectations
  • Connect with lecturers and a supportive peer cohort
  • Gain the foundational knowledge needed to confidently commence accredited training

If your bachelor’s degree didn’t include counselling – and you’re committed to starting this professional path – the Bridging Course equips you with everything you need to take that next step.

Build the Foundations You Need to Thrive

The Bridging Course is not simply a prerequisite — it is a meaningful introduction to the field and a strong foundation for your future study.

You will develop:

  • core therapeutic concepts used throughout postgraduate training
  • reflective and self-awareness practices that underpin effective therapeutic work
  • introductory skills to support your confidence in the classroom and in practice
  • a clear understanding of academic expectations and competencies

Whether you come from corporate, education, health, social services, creative industries, or an entirely different field, you will finish the course feeling prepared, supported, and ready to progress into deeper study.

A Student Experience: “I Knew I Was Making the Right Decision”

Many of our students begin with the Bridging Course to ensure they have the counselling foundations needed for postgraduate study — and to confirm that this path truly aligns with their calling.

Recent student Anna shared her experience of starting with Metavision’s introductory (bridging) course:

“I chose to study at Metavision because I was really drawn to the holistic approach.
The introductory course was actually incredibly helpful. By doing that, I knew I was making the right decision and that I was in the right place.”

She also reflected on how the learning experience has shaped her journey so far:

“Everything has been pretty incredible — the week-long intensives, the opportunity to connect with a beautiful group of people, and the teaching staff who are so knowledgeable and supportive.
I’m learning so much about myself, and learning how to better support the people I work with.”

Her story reflects what many of our students say — the Bridging Course not only provides the essential academic grounding, but also validates the deeper sense of “this is where I’m meant to be.”

No “Right” Background — Only the Right Intention

Our students come from all walks of life. Many begin their journey through the Bridging Course because their undergraduate studies did not include counselling.

What unites them is not a specific profession or area of study, but a set of values:

  • curiosity
  • compassion
  • integrity
  • a desire to contribute meaningfully to the lives of others

If this resonates with you, you already have what is most important.

Study Within a Supportive Learning Community

Students consistently tell us that one of the most powerful aspects of studying at Metavision is the sense of connection and belonging. The Bridging Course introduces you to this community — one where people engage wholeheartedly, learn deeply, and form meaningful relationships.

You’ll be guided by experienced educators who support your learning journey and help you build the confidence and capability needed for postgraduate study.

Our next intake is now open, and we invite you to begin your journey.

Our upcoming 7-week Bridging Course begins on 8 January, 2026.

On successful completion, you will meet the counselling-specific entry requirements for the Master of Counselling & Psychotherapy (Holistic Practice) or the Graduate Diploma of Counselling (Holistic Practice) — provided you hold an undergraduate degree in any discipline.

This pathway is designed for students who are committed to studying counselling and simply require the academic counselling component not covered in their previous qualification.
