Discover the Metavision Approach to Healing and Wholeness

A free introductory course from Metavision Institute

Begin Your Journey into Holistic Counselling

This short, self-paced course offers a gentle introduction to the Metavision approach – a model of healing that honours the whole human being: body, mind, spirit, and soul.

Through a series of short videos and reflective exercises, you’ll experience what it means to work holistically, explore the foundations of inner work, and begin tuning in to the deeper threads of your own journey.

It’s a meaningful first step for anyone considering training with Metavision — or simply curious about how counselling can become a path of transformation.

What You’ll Experience

You’ll be guided through three core lessons by our Student Liaison, Deanne Reyes, offering insight into the heart of Metavision’s teaching model:

Lesson 1: Inner Work & Holistic Perception

Begin with the essential question: Who am I?
Explore how inner work forms the foundation of truly transformational counselling — and how developing a holistic lens opens new ways of seeing yourself and others.

Lesson 2: Listening to the Body

Discover how the body holds wisdom that speaks through symptoms.
This lesson introduces our somatic approach — helping you recognise the body’s signals and explore what deeper meaning they may carry.

Lesson 3: The Journey Principle & Soul’s Calling

What themes have woven through your life?
Here, we explore the idea that your life holds a deeper pattern — and that by paying attention, you can begin to align with your soul’s unique calling.

Lesson 1:
Inner work and developing an holistic perception

Please see the introductory material below, then click on each of the lessons to access them.

1. Approach to this Introductory Course
  • Whilst introductory in nature, this course contains some deep and important perspectives and philosophies.
  • Please allow time to absorb and reflect upon the topics explored within the context of your own life journey.
  • We encourage you to allocate a specific time to do each topic individually so that the material is absorbed. This may mean allocating an hour to each topic on different days.

First, please watch this brief introduction to Metavision and the Free Introductory course.

Next, take some time to listen to this podcast which introduces the Metavision Model of holistic counselling and psychotherapy in more depth.
This introduction to process-oriented meditation is a fresh approach to the new body of philosophy and technique that unites the foundations of Western psychotherapy and Eastern meditative traditions in a single holistic system.

Lesson 2:
Inner Work & Developing an Holistic Perspective

In this introductory video, we discuss Process Work with Dee.

The aim of this exercise is to give you a taste of being able to ‘work on yourself alone’ (Mindell) to unfold the message in a body symptom.

The premise here is that the body is a wise integrated system that sends signals for you to bring to your conscious awareness. With this awareness you have the opportunity to change some behaviour and so follow more closely the flow of your own life’s unfolding journey.

Please remember that there are no wrong or right answers when following this type of exercise and there are some people that may have difficulty being able to access this part of themselves. This is also ok. It takes a certain type of letting go and sometimes we can be too much in our “heads” or not feel safe and have unprocessed “issues” which may need extra support from a therapist. If you would like to work with one of our graduates or students, we invite you to be in contact.

Steps to get started:

  • First watch the video to get an idea on how the exercise works. This is inner work that you can explore on your own or you can do this with friends. You will need a quiet place free from disruptions.
  • Take your time listening to the audio, pausing after each step.
  1. What’s happening in your life now? Is there a question, challenge or problem you’re grappling with? Make some notes about this.
  2. Now get comfortable and close your eyes. Take a few moments to check in with your body. Notice where there is pain, tension, or sensations that you would like to explore further. Pick one symptom or sensation to follow. What is it? Take a moment to make a few notes about this.
  3. Now take some time to explore the experience of the symptom. Rather than describing it in intellectual or diagnostic terms, notice its qualities and describe it as a sensory experience. (e.g., “I feel heat, pressure, twisting, pinching”)
  4. Use your imagination to amplify (make bigger) the symptom as fully as possible. In the video example there were hand gestures that went along with the symptom. Perhaps you have a hand gesture that goes along with your body symptom? Perhaps there are sounds or other movements that go along with this symptom too. Notice any images or words that may arise as well.
  5. Continue to deepen into this until you feel you have expressed the energy and/or qualities of the symptom as fully as possible. Open to the idea that this experience has a message for you. In the example video the message that came up was “stop overreaching” What message does your symptom have? You might imagine asking “why are you creating this?” “why are you here?” Trust whatever arises in response. When you come to a resting point, and an understanding of message of the symptom maker, you are ready to proceed to the next step
  6. Now look back at your notes from step 1. How does this message apply to your life? How does it relate to the question, challenge, or problem you are currently grappling with?
  7. Integrating the message from the symptom maker may bring up an edge. This can feel uncomfortable. Notice it, recognise it, and stay close to it.
  8. How could the message/information from the body symptom be lived and enjoyed more in your life? Try to go into new territory, for example, in the video, it was to “pull back” on the demands of life. Yours may be similar or something completely different but relevant to you that would correspond with your life. Take your time and think about how you can ground the message of your symptom in your everyday life. Make some notes about this and if possible commit to taking action, even in just a small way.

Try doing this for your self and with others. It is fun and can bring important changes to your life.

Lesson 3:
Journey Principle & Our Soul's Calling

In this podcast with Indigo Melrose and Rose Harvey, they explore how following their soul’s calling led to weave their training and practice in Social Work, Chinese Medicine, Anthroposophy and Process Oriented Psychology into a holistic model of counselling and psychotherapy as taught at Metavision today.

Through her journey, the podcast will explore the deep mysteries of Life and discuss how we can all learn to listen to and follow our own soul’s calling.

In this lesson, we ask you to listen to the podcast and then thinking about your own journey, reflect, answer and journal the questions below.

After listening to the podcast , please explore the questions below as an inner work exercise.

  • What are the threads that run through your life and do any of these threads relate to your soul’s calling?
  • How does the organising principal in this podcast work in your life?
  • What are your thoughts on there being a “rightness” to things and how does this affect your perspective and the way that you operate?
  • How much have you learned throughout the 3 x lessons provided that will assist you in going forward?
