Orienting the Transformative Experience of Holistic Education with Elsa Henderson
Orienting the Transformative Experience of Holistic Education introduces students to the unique nature of holistic learning as a journey of personal and professional growth.
Drawing on the concept of wayfinding, informed by the PhD research of Metavision faculty member and experienced Process Worker, Elsa Henderson, students are invited to understand learning as an unfolding process rather than a fixed pathway.
The orientation explores how transformative education can involve periods of uncertainty, transition, and liminal space, where old ways of understanding may be challenged and new insights begin to emerge.
Through reflection, community, and embodied learning, students are encouraged to develop trust in their own process, navigate change with greater awareness, and cultivate the presence, self-awareness, and relational capacity that underpin holistic counselling practice.
Slack is our online messaging system, here you can communicate instantly with your cohort, teachers and staff. We will also post important announcements here.
You will be provided with a login to both of these systems a week prior to your course start date.
Moodle is the eLearning platform for Metavision. It is a multi-user dynamic learning environment that encourages engagement, productivity and peer learning and is a vital component to your Home-study Program.
It has been set up with everything that you need to progress through your course, including all reading extracts, course material, assignments and assessment tasks, peer learning and conversation forums. This platform is where you go to submit and track essays, assignments and results.

Each academic year, students are required to attend two Intensives, which are a core part of the learning experience. Intensives provide valuable face-to-face time with educators, fellow students, and the Metavision support team, supporting deeper learning and connection.
Due to the reflective and sensitive nature of the course content, students are expected to have commenced personal counselling and to have appropriate support in place during Intensives if needed. We encourage you to pace yourself and prioritise self-care throughout each Intensive.
Students are responsible for organising their own travel, accommodation, and basic stationery. If you experience difficulty, Metavision staff are available to offer support where possible.

Student counselling placement is an essential part of your training at Metavision Institute – where classroom learning meets real-world practice. Metavision offers a range of student support services to help you feel supported throughout your studies and to successfully progress toward graduation. We are committed to recognising each student’s individual circumstances and learning journey, and we aim to model compassion, care, and kindness in all interactions.
Support is available through Student Liaison, Module Educators, Course Coordinators, and the Metavision Office Team. We encourage you to reach out if you experience study challenges, language barriers, or require additional support at any stage.
Given the emotionally reflective nature of the course, students are expected to engage in personal counselling before and throughout their studies. Ongoing counselling is a compulsory and essential part of the Metavision learning experience.
Peer support is also an important part of your journey. Staying in regular contact with your study buddy and fellow students can enhance learning and foster a strong sense of community. For personal or emotional concerns, students are encouraged to contact Student Liaison and/or their own counsellor.
During Intensives, qualified educators and support staff are available to assist you. Students are also encouraged to have their personal counsellor or support network available during these periods if additional support is required.
Metavision provides access to appropriate learning support, including language, literacy, and numeracy assistance where needed. A minimum English proficiency of IELTS 6.5 (or equivalent) is required for entry into all courses.

We understand life can be unpredictable and your circumstances may change during your time with Metavision. If this does happen and you need to discuss your study options with us please reach out and we can have a conversation to go over options for you. Sometimes switching between full or part time can be arranged or deferring for a period of time can be helpful in managing your study.
Fees
Before your course starts you will receive your invoice with payment options. These options will include paying upfront, per semester, monthly or fortnightly. Your payment option must be selected and plan set up prior to the census date.
